A Colourful Life

Happy Halloween!

Today is the day that kids everywhere wait for.  For moms and dad everywhere it means an hour or two outside taking the kids to get their treats.....hopefully the weather has cooperated where you live and it's at least nice and not raining!  There's nothing worse than having to wear a coat or parka over a beautiful princess or pirate costume!  We've got the candy ready to hand out here at home....though we're eating some of it already!  It's also time to do some baking......!

These spider cookies are so simple to make.  If you love chocolate like me, you'll love these!   Below are some cookies that my friend, Deb made --- they are scary looking, but delicious!

So.....enjoy your Halloween everyone and get some rest after this cause guess what?  After today, it's all Christmas.....which is even more stressful!

Party This Way!

This past Friday night I went over to my niece, Taren's home to teach this class using the Party This Way stamp set.  This cute set features 5 images, perfect for creating birthday party invitations, birthday cards and scrapbook pages and just any good ol' celebration cards!

The pennant image above is wonderful layered together using the pennant punch, which is a double punch, cutting these 2 shapes below with ease.

We made 4 cards altogether -- see them below!

Here we are in the middle of class -- it was a fun night of creating.....followed of course with a good dose of food and talking afterwards!  Thanks Taren for having me over!

Applying Colour Using Sponge Daubers

Awhile back I taught this class using sponge daubers on this card.

I have received some emails from readers asking what I did to add the colour in the flower.  It's real easy....I just used Stampin' Up's sponge daubers.  See below:

First stamp the flower from the 5th Avenue Floral set using Basic Black ink.  Colour in the stems using an Old Olive marker.

Then, using a sponge dauber add bursts of colour in the center of the flower.  I used the More Mustard Classic ink for the center with a light halo of Daffodil Delight around it.  Pretty, don't you think?

The flowers were then cut out and added to the finished card using dimensionals for depth.  The flower stem is a stamp that is also included in the 5th Avenue Floral set.  The supply list to make this card is below:

Thanksgiving Weekend

It's thanksgiving again, time to reflect on all that we have and give thanks for it all.  I love this time of year because, next to Christmas it is the single most important holiday for my family.  This is the time of year that we get to realize how much we have in our lives and how rich we are, not monetarily but in what matters most -- family, love and health.   So I thought I'd jot down at least 10 things that I'm thankful for.....there certainly are more things I'm thankful for, but I thought for this post, I'm just gonna jot down 10!

1.  My immediate family -- my husband and kids -  everyday they teach me what genuine love truly is.

2. My extended family - my mom, my brothers and sisters and all my nieces and nephews.  I love them all, crazy bunch that they are.

3. Health - another year of good health for all of us, it's such a blessing and something no one should ever take for granted.

4. The internet.  If not for it, you wouldn't be reading this.  What else is there to say?

5.  My friends.   My life would be boring without all of you!

6.  My gym membership -- if you know me, you know how I love the gym.  I could live there.

7. Turkey and all the trimmings -- cause pizza's okay, but Thanksgiving just wouldn't be the same, would it?

8. Texting -- the fastest way to get a message to anyone.  In my world anyway!

9. Ketchup -- pretty well anything that taste horrid instantly tastes better when you put ketchup on top.

10.  Groupon - my world just got 50% cheaper.  Enough said.

 

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  Be grateful, be kind and tell everyone you love that you love them.   Everyone likes to hear those 3 little words and what better time to say them than NOW.
