I apologize for my lack of posts. Getting back to reality after a week of sun, fun and cruising is difficult! I had lots to do, classes to design, emails to return and lots of messages on my desk. But all seems to have been brought up to speed ....(I hope, anyway!) and this morning I actually have some time to post some pics, and tell you about our wonderful week at sea.
First, a quick card. This is one of the cards featured in my card class for my April 17th Spring stamping event -- email me for the details if you live in the lower mainland (Vancouver) and would like to attend.
This card is oh so cute! It uses the Sweetheart Stamp set as well as the designer buttons. I think it turned out just wonderfully!
Now, let me tell you about our cruise. First of all, I have to start by saying that we had such an awesome time that while on the ship, Doug put in a deposit for our next cruise. See, if you do that, they give you a $100 shipboard credit toward your current shipboard account. So it was a smart thing to do! Now, some pics.
The pool deck after we boarded. We boarded at noon and the ship did not sail till 5 PM, so we were still in port when I took this. After guests board, they are free to roam the ship, eat at any of the dining areas (and I mean E.A.T.! ) --- food was plentiful and abundant, it seemed wherever you looked people were eating, and food was on display. Our staterooms were not ready till 2 PM, but we looked around the ship, had some lunch, found the gym, played some golf on deck and then enjoyed the sun.
Did I forget to mention that everywhere you looked, there was food? It never went away. For Doug & Alyssa, this was a dream come true.....seeing as I don't really like to cook at home, and it's usually pizza, or noodles....or something real quick. They both thought they had died and gone to food heaven.
Our balcony stateroom. Let me say, that having an outside cabin with a balcony is a must. I couldn't stay in a cabin with no windows or fresh air. We had 2 cabins, Alyssa had her own which was in inside cabin and she didn't mind it, but I couldn't have stayed there. At night while at sea, we slept with the door open and the ocean breeze made for the best night's sleep ever.
There was lots to do while on the ship. We played golf, basketball, shuffleboard, watched movies, played Nintendo Wii, table tennis, danced the night away every night, as well as watched the many shows offered in the theatres. There was a Broadway musical type show one night, the funniest magician/comedy performance one night (The comedian was Rich Purpurra and he had us in stitches....) and we also played a lot of games with audience participation. Doug & I joined the Family Fued game and we won a t-shirt and a keychain.
We docked in Freeport, Bahamas on the first day. We took a cab into town and explored the straw markets and the beach. The buildings in the Bahamas are so colourful!
The next day, we docked in Nassau where we spent the day at Atlantis in Paradise Island. The waterpark is awesome!
The lazy river at Aquaventure in Atlantis. Don't let the name fool you....some parts of this river have rapids that toss you around as you travel along the strong current. We had such a fun time here and we rode the lazy river many times.
The Leap of Faith -- this is the slide that NONE of us went on. First, the lines were long and second and the only thing that mattered to me: IT'S SCARY!
Every night was a themed party. This was the White Hot Party on the 3rd night. We all wore white. Alyssa stayed and partied with us till around 11:30, then we brought her back to her stateroom as she was tired.....then Doug & I danced till 2 AM. What did we do after that? We went to the dining room and had chicken wings and pizza. Nice.
Flying home, I snapped this picture of the Rockies. We had a wonderful vacation, but coming home is always a treat. Having said that, we can't wait till our next cruise!
Those are such awesome pictures. Looks like you had lots for fun... yay!
