Much Needed Rest

It was so nice to sleep most of today. I have been struggling with a nasty cough that I kept under control with cough medicine and cough drops for the past 7 days as I finished with all my craft fairs. The booth at UBC cost me several hundred dollars and the weekend fair cost a little over a hundred and when you put out that kind of money, you don't want to not go. There is no refund this late in the game. So I masked all the symptoms with meds and now I am rundown as a result. I slept most of today and then went to the doctor late today to get things checked out. I was afraid I had bronchitis. But my chest was clear, my nose and ears were clear and the doctor said I just had a really bad cough and then I was given a prescription for cough medicine that will help me sleep at night without being woken up every couple hours hacking and coughing up a lung. Poor Doug has had to deal with me coughing all hours of the night for the past week! I'm hopeful that with a bit of rest, I will be fine in a couple of days. On the bright side, I did well at both fairs and my efforts resulted in some new class sign ups and a new recruit to join my team as well! So in the end, all is good.

I am missing the gym terribly....not being able to go this past week has just about put me over the edge. I have a training session with my trainer tomorrow that I've had to cancel due to my cough, so this is really driving me crazy! I cannot wait to get back to my daily exercise and workout routine. I keep feeling my biceps thinking my muscle is turning to mush.....but of course, it hasn't!

December will be here in 3 days, and I still have lots of shopping to do. My list is LOOOOOONG......! Before I go here are pics of my birthday dinner last week with my family.

I count my blessing everyday and on top of my list will always be my loving family: my husband and kids, brothers, sisters, in-laws and my Mom. Another year of family bliss to look forward to. I am very lucky indeed.

And since I know some of you always want to see some crafting pics, here is a card I made using a retired set from Stampin' Up called Serene Snowflakes. I also used a cute little cookie cutter shape that my friend Cathy gave me to use. Isn't it cute?

I used the French Script background stamp with Very Vanilla craft ink on Riding Hood Red cardstock. The other colours are Vanilla and Early Espresso....wonderful, warm and christmassy! (that's a word, right?)

Creating in the midst of the Havoc

It's been a crazy week at the craft fair. The students at UBC are card maniacs. They love cards!! I ran out of birthday and thank you cards and tonight I am creating some more in the midst of my mess of a workspace. Seriously, I start off with a clean desk and as the creative juices start flowing and I start pulling out stamp sets, stamp pads, markers, glue, etc, etc.....I slowly fill up my desk till I have nothing but a 10X10" space to work in and this is what I end up working on....

It's almost over though....one more day, then the weekend craft fair at St. Thomas Moore and I'm done. Then I can start designing for more classes again, as it seems some of my regulars have gone into serious class withdrawal and are emailing for the next set of classes! They are coming, I promise. What else is coming??? CHRISTMAS! Yikes. So much to do. But it's fun. And it's all good. I can't complain.

One Day Down, 6 More to Go.

Yesterday was the first day of my craft fair at UBC. Set up was a bit stressful --- it was freezing and it took 3 trips back and forth in the cold from the car to our booth. My ears were frozen by the time I was finally back inside from the third trip. But all is set now, and yesterday was a pretty good day. I took pics of our booth, but they came out blurry because all I had was my cell phone.....but here was one shot that turned out of the little chocolates I made using the scallop punch.

It' supposed to be cold all week, but as long as there isn't much snow or ice....I can deal with it. Yesterday it was -4, but with the wind chill it felt like -10. Brrrrr........

Craft Fair Production Overdrive

Just a few more days before my week long, back to back craft fairs. Needless to say, production is on overdrive as I try to make as much stock to sell as I possibly can. If you don't hear from me in the next week, it's cause I'm knee deep in paper and ink. Here's some of what I've made so far. These are lip balm holders.

Don't they look pretty all in a row like this! I'll try my best to post something while I'm doing my fair, but "TRY" is the operative word......!!

Stamp Club Buckle Card

This coming week I'm meeting with one of my stamp clubs for our last meeting before Christmas. This month we are making a buckle card. This is not a new design and it has been floating around on all blogs for years, but I've always loved its simplicity. An oldie but definitely a goodie.

I used the Eastern Blooms stamp set for the card, stamping the flower in So Saffron and then stamping it again using Poppy Parade on spare cardstock Then I cut out just the centres and added them to the flowers -- some are glued flush to the card and others are popped up. The buckle opening is made using the Word Window punch.

The greeting is from the set Curly Cute which is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

Stamp Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is my all day stamping event! It is my last one now before Christmas, but I have some cool classes planned in the New Year, including a great Valentine class. I got my kits ready today along with all the other stuff I need to bring. My method of packing my supplies isn't really very fancy. As you can see here, I have very expensive packing equipment, aka a recycled Won Ton box. It works for me!

Everything is just about ready, but I needed a break so decided to do this quick blog post. I have been kitting most of today, though I did take some time to do some baking. The fruits of my labour below!

Making Gift Tags

One of my fave sets from the Stampin' Up Holiday Mini is this one called Tags Til Christmas.

I've been using it a lot this past week as I get ready for 2 major Craft Shows I will be participating in. Here's some of what I've done.

I love that Stampin' Up has matching punches to use with their exclusive stamp sets. This one is the Ornament punch.

I added a single pearl in the center of the tag. This tag is just the right size to add to Christmas presents. What I like the most is how fast and easy it is to make!
