Another Sneek Peak!!

Here's another card from my Holiday Card Class which is part of my August 7th all day event.

If you haven't already, don't forget to register for this all day event! It promises to be a day of creativity and fun.

Summer Layout (2 page spread) - $20 10 - 12 PM
Create a summer themed page layout using stamps, chipboard alphabet letters and rubber stamps. We wil paint our letters to match the paper, then embellish them with crystal effects. Each person will get their own set of chipboard alphabet letters with enough letters to spell anything they want with lots leftover for future projects! All supplie to create your 2 page spread will be included.

Holiday Card Class $20 1:30 - 3:30 PM
Create 4 holiday cards and get a jump start on your holiday cards. Lots of embellishing and an interactive t-slide card is incuded!

If you register for both classes, you only pay $35 for both.

As well, toonie stations will be set up around the room where you can make a project fo $2. There will be 8 stations in total -- do 1, 2 or all 8! It's up to you!

Please bring a basic kit : scissors, pencil, cutter with scoring blade and your own adhesive -- glue stick, glue dots and 3D dots. If you are taking the scrapbook class, please bring a paintbrush.

I will be posting the complete set of samples for both classes tomorrow, so check back in!

Lunch is provided if you choose, $8 per meal -- the choices are:

Veggie - tom/cuke/cheese/lettuce/alfalfa sprouts on a bun
beef - slow cooked shredded bbqd beef , tom and lettuce on a bun
chicken - roasted chicken breast (shredded)/tom/lettuce/fruit salsa on a bun

All "bun"wiches with mayo, to be served with a bottle of water and a cookie and vegy stickes (carrots/celery)

This event will be held at the Beacon Cove Townhomes on Blundell and No. 1 Road in Richmond.
Visa/MC accepted.

Payment must be made to hold your spot, no refunds within 48 hours of the event, but you can pick up your kit or send someone in your place.

How it all began.....

I've been blogging since 2006.  Lately, I've received lots of emails from readers asking when and how I started blogging.  I've always enjoyed writing and have been somewhat of a documenter.  In elementary and high school,  I was an accomplished writer and won many awards for writing.  In university, I was accepted into the advanced Creative Writing class.  Now sadly, I'm lazy and don't really apply myself so most of what I write is mediocre.  When I was younger I wrote in diaries about every single thing.  Every single first in my life....my first date, my first kiss, my first heartbreak....you name it, I wrote about it.  I find a certain kind of healing in writing.  When I'm happy, I write....and when I'm sad, I write.  It soothes me.  One day when I'm dead, someone will find my diaries and will read it and for sure will feel like they know me. 

So to all my blog followers, since you asked....click here to see how it started.  It's my very first entry in 2006.

Back to the Grind and summer layout sneek peak.

Yup.   I`m back from a very relaxing, fun 4 days away with the family in Whistler.  The weather was lovely!  Here are some pics.

Travelling. Destination: Whistler

 

It's 1 A.M. and I'm up.  I Spent all day cleaning the house and getting last minute things done before we leave for our trip.  We leave in just a little over 10 hours.  We are going on our yearly family trip to Whistler. 

Our entire family goes on this yearly trip -- it's a nice traditon that our kids can look back on when they get older.  I believe it's the yearly trips that count the most and the ones that they will always remember.  The most memorable moments in my childhood happened on trips we took as a family on a regular basis.  Tradition -- its what family is all about and it is from these traditions that most of the family stories that get passed on from generation to generation stem from.   We all look forward to this trip.  I could tell both the kids were excited to go as they packed their gear yesterday.  On the way up we will stop for a bite in Squamish and explore Shannon Falls.  Here we are on this same trip last year --  the kids mugging it up for the camera in the village.

I'll  be back in Vancouver on Thursday and I will be finalizing the details and projects for my scrap and card event which will be hed on Saturday, August 7th.  This event will be held at the Beacon Cove Condos in Richmond on the corner of No. 1 Rd & Blundell, behind the Esso.  It will be an all day event starting at 9:30 and ending at 4 PM.  There will be 2 classes: a 2 page scrapbook layout from 10 - 12 (summer theme) and a Christmas card class in the afternoon from 1:30 - 3:30 PM.  Amidst all that, I will have toonie stations setup around the room where you can create a project for $2!  A lunch option is available for those who want.  If you live in Richmond and would like info on this event, please contact me by clicking on the "email me" button on the left margin.  I'll add you to the email list when I return on Friday. I'll also reply to any email queries when I get back, so if you don't hear from me right away.....you know why!

Sweet Scoops Class

This is my next class.  It also uses the Sweet Scoops stamp set, the same one my club members will be playing with this month.  I chose bright, cheerful colours for this ever so cute ice cream set.  We will also use transparencies and sanding blocks to create a card background.  The class dates are below:

Sunday, July 25   11 - 1 PM
Monday, July 26   7 - 9  PM

I've only scheduled 2 classes as I will be busy planning an all day event in August, but if needed, I will do a wait list for a third class.

Stamp Club is Starting Again

With the release of the new catalogue comes the start of Stamp Club!  Members of my stamp club will be playing with the Sweet Scoops stamp set and the new Builder Wheels

This is one of the cards we will be making in Club this month.

If it Ain't Broke......

...don't fix it.  At least that's how the saying goes, right?  So when many of you ordered my last class in kit form, I took that as a sign that the cards were liked by many. Therefore when my hubby asked me to make a card for a colleague who is retiring, I thought why rethink the plan? I simply made the same card, with a few tweaks here and there and in a slightly bigger size.  Here are the 2 cards, side by side.

I had to use my nestabilties dies to cut out the slightly larger scallops and ovals as I had no punches that fit the greeting which I had to swap out for the retirement theme.   I also used some brads instead of the gems.

 

These cards were made using the new Watercolor Trio stamp set from Stampin' Up!  It is a beautiful set.  If you would like to order your own, you can do so on my Stampin' Up site or you can email me.

The weather forecast for this week is for some hot, hot, hot temperatures.  On Wednesday, it's supposed to be 29 deg!  But we must consider ourselves lucky,  in NY and Toronto it's going into the mid 30's!  In anticipation of the hot weather, I got some baking done for the kids, now that they are home for the summer.  I don't want to be baking in the coming heat!  As you can see by the picture, my kidlets were faster than I was.  They got to the cornbread before I coult take a pic of it.  For the recipe to the honey cornbread, click here.
