So I Lied........

.......at the end of my last post I promised that I would post the card using my stitching sample "tomorrow".  Problem is, that was several days ago.....and tomorrow never materialized!  Sorry, everyone....I just go busy.  But as the saying goes.....better late than never, and finally here it is!

 
I used olive and red, a fave combination.  And of course, basic black....can never go wrong with black!  This card will be one of 4 cards that I will feature in my next class called, "Sew Many Flowers".  Stay tuned for info on that.  Below is a close up.

 

Before I go, here are some pics fruit/food from the public market.  As some of you know I am very lucky to work right in Granville Island.  The public market has the best fruit and vegetables, not to mention baked goods, fish and meat.  I usually go and buy something fresh for dinner on a regular basis.  Here are some pics of the market.

A New Toy!

About a month ago, I got this!  

 

I love my new little "Sew Mini" from Janome.....so much so that I took a second picture of my new fave toy!

 

It is so cute!  I plan to use it for crafting only, but it is made so well and is so sturdy, that it also works as a full size machine and can be used for sewing on all sorts of material.   I do have a full size Pfaff machine but never wanted to haul it out for the sake of stitiching on cards.  So this is exactly what I need.  It is extremely light and small enough to move easily from one place to the other.  It stitches so well, and the needle goes slow enough that I can still manage to get straight lines.  This is my very first attempt at using it.....nothing great, but I'm still learning.

Here is what I came up with after some practice.

I made a card with this little green stitched square, and tomorrow you will get to see it!

Annoyed.....

...with myself!  Why?  Cause I left my camera at work.  I have pictures in there that I need to write the blog post that I meant to write today.....instead you will get that post tomorrow.  Teaser:  I bought a new mini sewing machine and will use it to add stitching to my cards.  The sewing machine is so cute! 

It's been so long since I posted.....life has just been busy.  So until tomorrow when I can download the pics from my camera.....here is a rehash/repost of cards I designed that were published in Papercrafts last year.

A Very Good Cause

I'm sure all of us have had family members, or someone close to us affected by breast cancer.  Personally my grandmother on my mother's side had it and friends have had it.  I am in awe of the courage and strenght these women have shown as they battle this disease.  Many of them have done so successfully and therefore, I am very honored to be able to participate once again as an instructor in the Stamp Out Breast Cancer event at the Granville Island Hotel on May 15 and 16, 2010.  As I get more information on the event I will post them on my blog so those who want to attend can do so.  In the meantime, here's a sneek peak at 3 of the 4 cards I will be teaching.

 

 

 

 
 

Easel Card, Easter and some other stuff.

Finally, an update!  A good friend who shall remain nameless....(J.W.!!!!) told me a couple of days ago to get on it already and update my blog.  So here you go, Miss J.  -- just for you.

I made this easel card today....it will be one of the cards in an upcoming class.

 
Above is what the card looks like when the front is opened and resting on the inside panel which acts as a "stopper" to hold the front panel up at a slant.

 

This is the inside.  You can write a greeting above or below the scallop border.

Easter:

Easter was nice and relaxing.  We spent the day with both sides of the family.  First, lunch with my family.

Delicious food as always.

  After we had lunch with my family, we went over to have dinner with Doug's family.  It was the first time we got to see Joshua again since Christmas.  Joshua is my newest nephew and is such a little cutie.  What a happy baby....he smiles all the time!

 
 
 It was a wonderful day spent with family on both sides.  It was a reminder of the many blessings we enjoy in our life, most important of all being our family!

Other Stuff:

What's the next best thing to family?  For me, it's my girlfriends.  This past couple of weeks, I was able to spend some fun girlfriend time with my bestest pals.

To all my girlfriends....you rock and I love ya' all.  Even you nutty ones.  You know who you are.

Oh, and one more thing.  Last Friday, Doug took Alyssa to see Lights and Owl City, who she loves.  It was serious father/daughter bonding time.  And because Doug knew some people behind the scenes, Alyssa was thrilled to have been able to go backstage and meet Lights in person.  

What did I do while they were at the concert.  What else.  I hung out with my girlfriends!
