Well....this weekend went by in a blur!! So much happened the past 2 days. First of all, Doug had to fly to Calgary on Saturday for work, just for the day. Poor thing was stuffed up like you wouldn't believe, which is not fun when you have to fly. He must have gotten a cold from the plane trip back home from San Francisco last week. You know airplanes are a hotbed for germs running amok! Most people don't like to fly because they are scared and they worry about the plane crashing.....I don't like to fly because I know I will be an enclosed space with a couple hundred strangers and their germs!!
This weekend was also the Stamp out Breast Cancer event. What a fun time we all had. First I want to thank all the lovely ladies who came to my classes.
I had a lovely time with everyone and I still thank my lucky stars that I do what I do.....my job is the best ever. Your emails and comments have not gone unnoticed -- and yes, I do read all your emails and try my best to respond to them all! The first day of the event I had dinner with my buddy from Washington State, Julie Ebersole. It's always a good thing to spend actual girlfriend time together, instead of the "virtual" girlfriend time we spend via email. Julie & I had these killer martinis before dinner ....see for yourself!!
I had a raspberry blonde and Julie had a blueberry martini....Wowza...so refreshing and delish. My martini had something very citrusy in it, aside from the raspberry liqueur...I always try and pin down ingredients of menu items I like in the hopes of trying to recreate it at home, but couldn't figure this one out....excpet that it was supremo delisioso!! ....sorry about that -- Ceci, Consuelo and Hortensia at work all speak Spanish and have been teaching me, but I fake it by turning English words into Spanish sounding words like that. With working on the island which might as well be Hawaii cause it's so unbelievably beautiful most days and listening to Spanish all day long, I sometimes wonder where I am when I'm at work!
The weather was sunny and gorgeous, we sat by the window and had this great view....what could be better? Can ya' believe I work in this place? Check out that view! I love working on the island....again, no not Hawaii, but Granville Island which lately might as well be Hawaii for all the sun we've been getting. Have a look at our food.....I am always given a hard time about my habit of taking pics of my food.....but I love to do it....it's the scrapbooker in me!
Julie had the grilled wildeye salmon -- doesn't that look so enticing??? And I had the Vietnamese Spring Rolls which were fried....never had them that way before but they were sooooo good. And I also had the satay chicken. Yum. For those of you that are subscribers to my blog, you will know that I love to take pics of food and I love to talk about it. Food is just glorious, don't you think??? This is why I go to the gym all the time -- cause I love to enjoy my food!
Girly time, good food and great drinks.....loved catching up with Julie and spending some girlfriend time...love ya' Julie! Get that passport of yours already so we can do Whistler together!
In the evening we had a super time with make n' takes and the Stamp Olympics. We were divided up into teams of 3 and had to make projects judged on speed. The fastest to finish won. Can you picture a room full of women speed crafting???? Hilarious. What we didn't know was that in the final heat, one of us would be blindfolded. Guess who that person was?????
So much fun! I had to peel off the backing off double sided adhesive ....I'm talking a skinny strip of it....which was hard to do cause it was so small!! And then glue down a couple of flowers onto the adhesive, but the flowers had to be put on the right way up with the decorated centers facing up and the only way to figure out which way was up was by touch! I'm happy to say our team won --- go, team go! We got some pretty nifty goodies for prizes. But have a look at what we had to do for the first heat -- one of the pieces is what the project should look like, and the other one is what we actually achieved ......keep in mind we were doing this at warp speed, to try and be the first to finish.
Sad to say that our project looked like we had all been drinking (for some of us, that wasn't entirely false....!)
Here are more pics of the fun filled weekend.
I will be posting more pics and highlights on the I'm Impressed blog, so check it out in the next day or so. It was a super fun weekend for such a worthy cause! Hope to see you all again next year.
