Yesterday we went on our family Christmas Light tour -- we all get on a bus (yes, the entire family including boyfriends, girlfriends, significant others, etc. etc...) and
we map out a route of local homes that have christmas light displays. We all board the bus and drive around together, visit all the homes, and we all pose in front of the homes, look at the lights, walk around and laugh a lot. What's going on inside the bus in between each stop??? ......well, a lot of laughing, joking, screaming, singing and general mayhem. But it's fun and we do it every year. Just part and parcel of being in our crazy family. Halfway through the tour, we have a pit stop somewhere for some treats or coffee -- last year it was the McDonald's by the airport, (you should have seen the poor girl's face at the counter when all 48 of us walked in -- I though she was going to have a stroke.....) this year it was the Starbucks at the airport.
This year Doug fixed up the bus for fun and divided it up into 2 sections -- Ultra First class for the adults in the front (complete with Ghirardelli chocolates on each seat!) and Econo Low class for the kids in the back. They didn't care -- they just like being together away from us parents, so they can talk without us hearing what they are talking about. Doug even did up funny boarding passes and he set up a check-in counter! Then after the tour, we go to my sister's home for more good eats and a round or two of poker. SO MUCH FUN!!!
Later, I have some friends coming over to stamp and make cards with me. Here is a quick card I made for the store display.
It features stamps from Hero Arts and the scallop circle punch from Marvy.
Recipe for this card:
Stamps: Hero Arts Winter Pup
Paper: Bazill Buckeye, Bazill Vintage, Basic Grey (sorry can't remember the line, but I think it's Figgy Pudding)
Other: Fabriano watercolor paper, Stampendous Ultra Fine Glitter, Clipper Street antique bronze brads, Marvy Giga scallop punch (all supplies used to make this card can be purchased at Clipper Street)
I love to watercolor as my medium for adding color to my stamped images. I always use my waterbrush or my aquapainter from Stampin' Up! I prefer the soft look that watercoloring achieves as opposed to the boldness of markers.
Fabriano makes the best watercolor paper in my book and it is almost always the brand that I use. I used my Making Memories circle cutter to cut out a circle which I then mounted onto my scallop circle made using the Marvy Giga scallop punch. The glitter on the puppy's hat adds some pizzazz and the piercings on each scallop add a nice final detail.
Blog you later.
What a blast!!!
Happy New Year!
